A pleasant Makaweli party hosted by Mr and Mrs Morrison on Saturday April 7 honors Mrs Caner and Miss Letter as they depart after a lengthy visit. About eighty guests enjoyed nine dances followed by supper on a lanai and a cotillion led by Danford and Center. The evening closed with Auld Lang Syne and featured many local residents and friends.
Probate in Circuit Court grants Grace Dickey Waterhouse as executrix of Henry Waterhouse Jr estate valued at 86 000 with 90900 in land at Nozane and Schoolstreets and 66 000 in cash, stock, notes, and furniture. Lucy Trask, 12, daughter of David Trask, dies in Honolulu at 4 30 pm on Sunday April 15 1900.
The House debated Hawaii's territorial government bill on April 6, adopting key amendments. Provisions restricted alien labor contracts, extended alien contract labor, and prohibited liquor sales in saloons. Amendments also limited land holdings to 1,000 acres and shifted appointment power for officials to the President. The chamber adjourned at 6:20 p.m. without finishing the measure.
The House approved the substitute for the Senate bill creating a Territorial government for Hawaii. Amendments attempted by Hill of Connecticut for a resident commissioner and to deny Statehood pledges were defeated. The measure includes limits on immigration, a revised coastwise law timing, and labor provisions, with Newlands’ anti Asiatic labor amendment defeated. The bill, with several committee amendments, passed 120 to 28 and moves to conference.

He cites a supporter who disputes immoral rumors about the Queen and notes his bill passed the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and was nearly approved by the Appropriations Committee.
At a Bealanj Boat Club directors meeting committees were named with reps for rowing yachting and finance. Jack Atkinson was elected captain for the coming year. The club’s marine carry owned property was reported ready for use again.
London April 6 Lord Roberts reports five British companies captured near Bethany by Boers. Details show Royal Irish Fusiliers and two Ninth Regiment Mounted Infantry compromised, surrounded by stronger forces with four guns. Detachment held 3 to 4 April, then surrendered. later reports confirm all prisoners.
