Haskell Chamber Lunches At Merchants Cafe

The Haskell Chamber of Commerce met Tuesday for a regular luncheon at Merchants Cafe. Secretary Wimfc Combs presided in President K. G. Stone’s absence as list of members and speakers included H. W. Crock Carl Peterson Gd Adelman G. M. Floyd E Bo Harris Cannon H. T. Saffar ans Uo Bo O Bryan John McLemore J. C. Dowdy and Barney McBride. Peterson reported on committee concerns about voter will and signature in district, and asked opinions on promoting a bond election now. All members were urged to attend promptly at noon.

Delphian Tuesday December program for Babylonian studies

The Delphian Club outlines its Tuesday program with a leader Mrs Gi Kl Corbin and lesson studies on Babylonian civilization. Papers include The Chaldean Empire in Babylonian life by Mrs Prank Mean and a duet The east of Belshazzar with Miss Virginia Davis and Rev Steele. Additional talks cover differences in appearance of Babylonians and Assyrians, excavations by the University of Pennsylvania, and various cultural topics presented by a slate of speakers including Mrs Carl Peterson, Mrs W N Harsha, Mrs J W Capps, Mrs Jank Wilson, Mrs Carl Brown, Mrs Roy Holt, Mrs Thurman Brown, Mrs Kk B Harris, Mrs G W Knight, Mrs C L Pendergast, Mrs N B Moore, and Mrs T J Way.

Albert Pike Highway Reopens To Traffic

The Albert Pike Highway known as the Four Mile Road is open again after weeks of graveled closure. Next week steel mile markers will be set, and the Muskogee-bound route will soon be in fine condition. Local merchants rejoice as southern residents suffered travel inconvenience during the closure.

Change in Midland Valley Train Schedules

Midland Valley announces schedule changes effective Wednesday December 15. Details on arrivals and departures at Haskell were not provided, but trains 7 and 8, the Motor trains, will no longer stop between Tulsa and Muskogee. Towns between those cities risk losing an economical service unless action is taken.

WenNA Roast Halts as Snipe Hunt Fails at Camp

A WenNA roast at Mitchell Spring last Friday night drew many youths. One guest held the bag for a trying Oklahoma snipe hunt, but the snipes escaped through a hole in the bag. Methodist Congregation Joins Presbyterians For Union Service

Last Sunday evening Rev. T. M. Moore and the Methodist congregation worshipped with Presbyterians at the Presbyterian Church. The union sermon by Rev. Reed was enjoyed by all. At 7:16 the Methodist members met at their church to accompany their pastor in a united service. Previously Rev. Reed and his congregation had visited the Methodist church. Miss Opal James spent Sunday in Muskogee with her aunt.

Church of Christ Services in Muskogee Area

Elder T. S. Bain of Muskogee will preach Sunday morning and evening at the Church of Christ. Ralph Mack and Mrs Mack of Muskogee visited relatives, and the Gospel Service was held in Trickery Grove with Rev TY Moore preaching. A reader comments on the risks of chasing high society and financial missteps before balancing the books.

Senior play a real success at tech Orpheum Theatre

The Senior Class presented Star Bright with friends at the Orpheum Theatre in Jast nesht. Despite mixed reception, proceeds funded the term end banquet. Director Mrs. Sophya Gambill is praised for staging, with several cast members named. The event drew praise from patrons and promised continued alumni banquets next year. Mrs Gambill thanks patrons and reporter notes Will Rogers feature Cupid the Cowpuncher tonight.
