Democrats to Attack Wilson at San Francisco Convention
Wrench Sick Ind June 16 The opening of the Democratic National Convention at San Francisco will witness an anti Wilson attack to eliminate the President from party councils. W G McAdoo centers the plan as anti Wilsonites aim to defeat President Wilsons son in law and nominate a candidate opposed to the administration. Gov James M Cox of Ohio is seen as the strongest entrant with others mentioned. There may be a personal John Bryan plank and a push toward states rights on prohibition enforcement with some rollback of the Volstead Act to permit light wines and beer. A strong opposition to an open declaration on the League of Nations is developing, with a move to underwrite the league with reservations if the plan fails.
