Quick Action Saves Woman From Prom Injury
Bruce Montgomery of Bond Tie Company helped avert a serious accident on a local railroad road between Kronos and Centertown. Driving with companions, they spotted a woman on the tracks and tried to warn her. Despite efforts to stop, the car struck the tracks narrowly missing the woman. Montgomery, described as athletically inclined, acted decisively to prevent a disaster.

In the annual examinations held Friday and Saturday Jan 27 and 28 for common school diplomas all past records were broken. One hundred seventy three appeared before the three boards Fordsville Beaver Dam and Hartford. Winona R Coleman of Beaver Dam aged 11 was the youngest. 77 applicants at Hartford 56 at Beaver Dam and 40 at Fordsville. Grading will finish midweek.
