Reports from Petrograd that Gen Kornilov and Gen Dakionis were slain or killed during a mob action as Bolshevik forces advanced. Krylenko announced the capture of Molnay HQ, with rebel suppression following. A government resolution condemns the violence while vowing to restore order amid chaotic upheaval.
Captain James M DeWeese, linked to Ohio, rises to major amid World War I era plans. He commanded a state guard company organized in 1908 and later led the Ohio Janny regiment. Despite initial questions about fitness, wartime authorizations restored eligibility and he stands atop a large wave of promotions reaching 2400 officers. He is transferred to Camp Taylor with assignment pending later this week.
An aged woman, Mrs Elteafurth Siuilix, died at her daughter’s home near Murrows on Friday and was buried Saturday in Mt. Ver diet Cemetery. Funeral services were led by Hey Waylin of Horine Atha. She was thirty years old and survived by children Mew Tol Lord Mina Lavwrones Dan Bol Mra Wo Ne Hows Joe Hobe rt Stinks of Narrows Mra BL P Mawr of Hartland and Zeb Shula of Promant Ridge. Mrs Shulwe and family moved to Narrows from Cerulva about thirty years ago. She was a dedicated educator, a generous neighbor, and beloved in the community. her children have the community’s sympathy.
Edward Duke a young Dunds merchant was operated on for appendicitis by Dr Hoover Owensboro and Dr Duff Dundee. The disease was advanced and suppuration had formed. Surgeons feared for recovery but the operation was successful and he is steadily improving, soon to return to business.
John Stevens, 65, a trapper at Cook's Mill, Krcanaha Michigan, was shot and killed Wednesday by John Roberts, a boy, who mistook him for a deer. The body was taken to Maulytique, Michigan.
Otis Reynolds is found guilty of seduction under promise of marriage by a Circuit Court jury. He receives a sentence of not less than three years and one day in the penitentiary. Georgia Sharp testified. Reynolds admitted affairs but denied guilt. The accused and the plaintiff are from Pieeuant Ridge country. the child was born in February 1895. The case drew local attention for the unusual absence of claims against other men. Prosecution was led by Smith and Kirk. defense by Barnes and Crowe.
The tobacco trade in Kentucky opened with the highest prices in state history as wartime demand from Europe drives up prices. At Owensboro's Lancaster & Leat House the opening day averages rose from 4.03 in 1915 to 11.82 in 1916 and 14.19 this year, with some tobacco auctioned at 6 1/2 dollars as buyers bid amid heavy rains and rough conditions.
Farmers report prices below expectations with many rejections and returns to barns. Barley tops at 25 dollars while Pryor hits 27.50, but overall average tea appears low. The American Tobacco Company dominates offerings and bids, and farmers may hold tobacco for better prices amid large global demand.

Washington reports Secretary McAdoo says $5 128 203 793 must be provided beyond taxes and authorized bonds to balance the fiscal year ending June 30 1918 with a total deficit reaching about nine billion nine hundred nine million. For the next year ending June 20 1919 the excess of disbursements over receipts is estimated at 7 627 073 980. War costs and loans to allies have driven these figures higher than any prior Secretary of the Treasury report.
Secretary McAdoo projects federal outlays for the two years ending June 20, 1919 will total at least 36 billion dollars including Allied loans. He urges the public to economize on clothing, food, fuel and other essentials to conserve scarce resources amid wartime demands.
A letter argues against terminating the County Farm Agent next year. It praises the agent for hog cholera care, soy beans, silos, clover seeding, pure bred stock, and boys corn and pig clubs, urging more farmers to use the service and noting neighboring counties retain agents.
Mrs. Sarah Coif Goff of Rowing died at her home Friday after five weeks of typhoid fever. She was 40, a devout Christian. Survived by husband Robt. W. Goff, three children, three brothers and one sister.

William B Cole Civil War veteran died at his Horve Branch home yesterday morning. About eighty, he will be buried today at Midkitt burying ground near Sulphur Springs. He served as Justice of the Peace and was once coroner of Obie county. He raised twelve children and remarried after his first wife’s death. A devout Baptist, he was a neighbor and friend known to many in the county.
Mrs Lucy Tanner aged 77 and last survivor of a family of twelve died Saturday at her son T F Tanner’s home near Flessin of nephritis and was buried Sunday at Woodward's Valley. Survived by several children including Kate Hedrick of Hartford, T F Tanner, and Hert Tanner who travels.
The Adjutant General J Tandy issues notice requiring all registrants to furnish their current addresses to focal boards, as changes from registration card addresses may delay mailings for December 16, 1917, proceedings. Registrants must keep informed of all actions affecting them or risk losing exemption rights.
