Exemption Board Begins 1918 Registrants Examinations
The total exemption board will begin today physical examinations of 1918 registrants who have turned 21 since June 5, 1917. Twenty five are called for today, twenty five for tomorrow, and the rest for later dates. Of 203 in this class, 88 did not claim exemption. Exemptions will be examined first, Class 1 exhausted, and the 1918 class to be called before those in Class 1. The board expects about 175 men during August, covering the 1916 eligibles and much of the recently redrafted. Congress is expected to revive the age limit from 18 to 40 this month, with revised-age picks called before current preferred classes.

Deserters Convicted Readied for Penitentiary Time
