A 46 million project begins with a ceremonial dig at the South Main and MLK Way corner in Harrisonburg. Fourteen participants turned shovels during a 30 minute ceremony marking the start of construction of a 230 room hotel and a conference center with 21 000 to 22 000 square feet of meeting space. The project is a public private partnership involving JMU its foundation dpM Partners and the city. JMU President Jonathan Alger cited perseverance as key to overcoming obstacles and delivering a significant development.
