The U S Department of Transportation approved a deal bringing regular jet service back to Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport for the first time since the 1970s The 50 seat jets will fly 12 round trips weekly to Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina and connect with 660 daily flights, replacing the current 34 seat turboprop service to Washington Dulles International Airport The carrier is ViaAir of Orlando Fla with the two year contract set to begin in 45 to 60 days Details on schedules fares and cutover date will be announced next week The move follows DOT approval of a September vote and ends issues with the previous service provider Silver Airways
