Mrs. Harry Lee Dechert returns from Saranac New York visiting her son Wilmer Lee Dechert. Mrs. Joseph L. Wright returns from Roanoke visiting Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jamison. Richard Jackson vacationing at Virginia Beach with William P. Dickson Jr. Mrs. Charles E. Palmer and Penn Palmer travel from Sioux City IOWA to Harrisonburg for two months at 265 East Market Street. Donald Timberlake arrives from Wheeling to spend several days with J. W. Ritchie at Lilly. Mrs. Leon Kyger moves from Rockingham Memorial Hospital to Port Republic home of Jacob P. Kyger. Miss Mollie Buxton Pownall visits cousin Miss Mary Virginia Woolf in Moorefield W Va. Tom Bazsle and son visit his parents in Washington. L A Bazzle Jr and wife dine with John Baszle family in Harrisonburg. Gilbert Gooden and Edward Rucker plus Frances Lee visit Verbena. Lillie Meadows and children stay with H. L. Lam in New Canton and return with Mrs. Rucker and her sister-in-law. Miss Martha Nethkin attends Massanetta Camp as First Presbyterian Church organizer. A string of society notes records Elkton residents visiting relatives in Morgantown Davidson College student John Risner visits relatives in Elkton and White Plains. Mr and Mrs J H Thompson Jr spend time with parents before returning to Roanoke after trips to Summit and New York City. Sammie Cox returns home after a week at the University Hospital.
Belden personals note Mr and Mrs S H Miller visited his sister Mrs O Huffman near Shelby. They were joined by Mr and Mrs Barman Shifflette and Bernard Shifflette. Mr and Mrs Robert Williams returned home after a visit with Warren Shifflette. Delmer Davis, ill son of Mr and Mrs David Davis, is improving. Warren Shifflette remains about the same.
Mrs. Raymond Musser and two children from Moorefield West Virginia are guests of Mr and Mrs James Jennings. Mrs D L Smith visits West Virginia. Mrs Joe Rucker visits her daughter in Roanoke. Mrs R C Chaplin and two sons return from Washington relatives. Mr and Mrs Lionel Morris and daughter of Washington visit sister Miss Effie Hite. Mrs Ivor Melton hosts the Three Table Contract Club in Port Republic.
C G Blough of the Securities and Exchange Commission and wife and daughter Bettie spent a weekend with Mr and Mrs W S Flory before returning to Washington. Mrs J N Simmers Jr returned home after visiting her parents in Mt Sidney. Francis Hollen and Leon Michael left for Fredericksburg for positions with National Fruit Product Co. Rev A L Hahn of Salem Lutheran Church filled Bridgewater Lutheran Church pulpit in pastor Huddle er’s absence. M Guy West of Roanoke spent days with former parishioners at Central Church of the Brethren. Gordon Speck of Philadelphia visiting J J Lowman. Hattie Wright of Washington visiting her parents D S Wright. Stuart D Baker, formerly of Bridgewater now in Charlottesville, spent the weekend. Raymond B Spitler, after Rockingham Memorial Hospital surgery, returned home much improved. J Herschel Ringgold, who recently purchased Rev H G Miller home.

June 29 Mrs Margaret Louderback returned home after weeks with grandparents in McGaheysville. Mrs William R Miller back from Washington weekend. Mt Solon guests include Mr J P Kiser Miss Loretta Kiser Alfred Kiser with L W Coakley family. Other entries note visits from Washington Port Republic and Goods Mill. Mrs Kyger convalescing after appendectomy.
Mossy Creek June 29 Ms Jean Williams recently returned home from Rockingham Memorial Hospital and is improving. Miss Callie Ross of Richmond visits her sister and brother in law Rev C Q Lewis. Miss Maralee Shields and Miss Evelene Thacker, Staunton workers, spend weekend at Mossy Creek homes. Miss Ruth Harmon of Waynesboro visits Mossy Creek home.
Little Betty Jean Steel visits her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Shenk. Donnal Lee Back, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Back, is recovering well after mastoid surgery. Mrs. Charles BE Rhodes and her daughters Audrey Lee and Eleanor are mentioned among other local notes.
Jean returns from Warm Springs and visits with relatives. Mr and Mrs Bernard Minnick and son spend Sunday with Lloyd Minnick. Mr and Mrs Charles E B Rhodes visit in the home of her father W J Shank.
Miss Dorothy Marie Franklin and Lawrence Johnson married Saturday June 19 in Petersburg Virginia. She is the daughter of Arras and Mrs Franklin of Petersburg former Linville residents and a niece of Sallie and Louise Payne. They will reside with the groom’s parents near Petersburg.
