Beaumont, Texas June 29 A mob of about one hundred including several women tried to storm the Jefferson County jail to seize Rainey Williams who confessed to eight attacks on Port Arthur white women. Police and firemen thwarted the assault using tear gas, and the mob withdrew two hours after the initial attack. Williams was brought to Beaumont for safety after a prior lynching attempt.
