Military Widows Seek To Help Grieving Families

Joanne Steen, widow of Lt Kenneth Steen, founded a support group for young military widows and widowers after her husband’s helicopter crash. She and Regina Asaro collaborated on Military Widow: A Survival Guide, a so non autobiographical 215 page work by the U S Naval Institute Press this month, drawing on interviews with widows, officers, and chaplains.

Chesterfield Supervisor Pleads Guilty to Sexual Battery

Chesterfield County supervisor Edward B. Barber admitted two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery against a 16 year old as part of a plea deal. He received two years in jail suspended, three years probation, 100 hours community service, and a required sex offender evaluation. Board members urged his resignation while noting the serious breach of public trust.
