Rockingham County jail remodel adds modern steel cells
Workers install seventy five tons of steel in the third floor of the remodelled Rockingham County jail. The top floor roof and other work will take months. The redesign features an escape proof interlocking door system and steel cage linings three feet from brick walls. Juvenile white and colored cells have a separate entrance on first floor. The second and third floors hold six eight-prisoner cells with steel bunks and exercise space. Fourth floor will hold four hospital cells.
