CHICAGO. The nation's traffic deaths climbed to a record pace in the first five months of the year, totaling 15,190 over 151 days from Jan 1 to May 31. The National Safety Council reported a 6 percent rise from the same period in 1962, with May deaths up 13 percent to 3,560 from 3,150 last May. May marks the 17th consecutive month of higher totals since November 11.

Two Over 95 Die In County
Two of Rockingham County's oldest residents, both past 95, died Thursday. Luther S. Miller, 97, a retired McGaheysville farmer, passed away at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Florence Victoria Seat, 96, died at her home near Elkton.

Temperature hits 96 in June as heat bakes city
