Newman Avenue Apartment Blaze Injures Fireman and Damages
An apartment fire on Newman Avenue damaged the sleeping porch and adjacent room costing several hundred dollars. Fireman Harold Loewner suffered a severe arm cut from glass while venturing inside. The iron burned through a bed on a downdrafted blaze as windows were open. Mr and Mrs Hogshead had just moved in and left before bystanders spotted the fire. Dr E W E Friddle, napping nearby, woke to smoke and was alerted by neighbors.
