Five Riot Cases Evaporate in Rockingham Court

Best Buy Grand Opening Draws Early Shoppers
Nathan Morgan, 19, waited four hours at Harrisonburg Crossing for Best Buy’s grand opening, arriving at 5:45 AM to be first in line. His friend Shane Grandle, also 19, claimed the edge but Morgan said he stayed up all night to win the spot. Morgan burst through the doors after the ribbon ceremony as staff applauded.

Heat claims rise as children left in cars surge
Washington reports 18 infants and toddlers died from hyperthermia this year with eight deaths since June 13, the worst first half of a year since tracking began in the late 1990s. Officials urge parents not to leave children unattended in vehicles and avoid kids playing in vehicles.

Fatalities in Alabama and Missouri Involving Toddlers
In Hineston Alabama Hunter Iles two was found dead in the front passenger seat of his family car after playing outside. Sheriff's officials said the child was discovered missing and later found unconscious in the vehicle. In Portageville Missouri twins Allannah and Alliya Larry two were found dead in their grandmother's car on June 16 during mid 90s heat. The New Madrid County Sheriff said the children likely unlocked the car themselves and were locked inside for about two hours.

Fire Engulfs Copper Beech Townhome Prompting Rescue Action
Harrisonburg police officers Chris Moore and Chris Monahan spotted heavy smoke at 2429 Bayberry Lane while interviewing a person at a nearby complex. Moore, with the RUSH Drug Task Force, and Monahan, of the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, rushed to a Copper Beech townhome as flames spread to two additional units around 10 30 a m leading to a dangerous rescue operation.
