President Wilson does not want prohibition or the Irish question included in the Democratic platform, Senator Carter Glass reports after a White House conference. Glass says he carries the Virginia platform and that the President has endorsed it, stressing no firm draft exists. The Virginia platform contains no prohibition or Irish plank, Glass notes, and Virginia faces enough trouble without Ireland.
John Malone was convicted in circuit court of participating in the theft of eggs from the Haldeman & Brother produce house. Evidence showed Walter McCary and Daniel Hoy implicated. Hoy faces trial today. Witnesses included manager Carver, I. C. Oates, and Deputy W. P. Wine.

Philadelphia June 24 railroad officials moved to end the yardmen strike that disrupted freight as Baltimore & Ohio discharged workers who walked out and Reading Railway president Agnew P Dice warned strikers to return to work or leave. The rail labor board anticipated a retroactive wage award to May 1 and union heads welcomed any settlement to quell unrest.
