Partial clearing by this afternoon with a 50 50 chance of showers or thunderstorms and highs around 80. Tonight partly cloudy with a low near 60. Thursday partly sunny with highs in the low 80s. Showers end early Thursday with partial clearing, then mostly sunny Friday and Saturday with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Lows will be in the 50s to around 60 across Thursday through Saturday.

Federal Reserve officials warn further cuts could raise long-term rates, arguing easing is needed for housing, construction, and investment. Alvin Pettus, James Madison University education chair, was chosen over Jane Prey to represent Harrisonburg west ward at a Tuesday council meeting. The panel approved a 41.4 acre Reservoir Street and University Boulevard commercial development by Bill Neff with about 25 lots for offices, retail, and restaurants. Neff Avenue will be extended through the site toward Port Republic Road, near Stone Spring Elementary, with minimal arboretum impact, and future lane additions will widen Reservoir Street to four lanes as development proceeds.
AP reports Tuesday night lottery results from the East Coast and Washington area. Virginia picks include Pick 3 0-5-2 and Pick 4 4-6-7-1. D C Daily Double 43 90 and Lucky Numbers 1-6-4. West Virginia posts Daily 3 7-8-7 and Daily 4 0-5-1-6.
