Lawrence A. Arnold of Fairfax the Woodson High School valedictorian won a $1000 one time General Foods Corp financed scholarship and plans to study economics. Jennifer S. Young of Annandale a Clear Lake High School graduate won a four year Rice University sponsored scholarship and will study chemical engineering. National Merit reports about 14 000 finalists and some 4000 scholarships totaling over $12 million this year as more than 54000 scholarships worth over $147 million have been awarded since 1956.
