A committee vote would send the nomination to the full Senate with a recommendation or a tie without one.
Louise Reeves of Cleveland failed to win damages from United Artists and others over a 1941 bout reenactment in the film Raging Bull. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district ruling that a state name likeness law does not transfer rights to heirs. Reeves, who died in 1974, sought 4.2 million and 3 percent of future profits.
