Cabinet Shop Fire Destroys Harrisonburg Area Plant
Lightning sparked a blaze at Herbert Coffey's Cabinet Shop on Va 726 west of Harrisonburg just after 3 pm. Fire units from Bridgewater and Harrisonburg Hose Co 4 fought the flames for about an hour, later cooling hot spots for 34 hours. No workers injured. Fire Chief Ernest Shifflett suffered a hand injury after a fall from a truck. The shop, owned by Herbert Coffey, was demolished with no precise loss estimate available.
