Lost 7,600-pound bomb off Georgia coast remains unrecovered

The Air Force announced that a 7,600-pound nuclear bomb dumped off the Georgia coast in 1958 remains unfound and will be left in place. Recent radiation tests near Tybee Island by Savannah found no trace of the device, according to a Friday report.

North Korea signals return to disarmament talks

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il said Pyongyang could join international disarmament talks as early as next month ending a yearlong boycott. He added the nation must receive proper US respect before resuming negotiations. The Bush administration dismissed the proposal as rhetoric.

MP Sues Pentagon Over Gitmo Drill Beating

Military policeman Sean D. Baker filed a $15 million lawsuit in Kentucky federal court alleging constitutional rights violations after a January 2003 incident at Guantanamo Bay in which a five-man unit beat him during an extraction drill while he wore an orange detainee jumpsuit. Baker, a Gulf War veteran, says the assault caused brain injury, seizures, headaches and other problems. He seeks reinstatement in a duty position accommodating his disability and contends officials later linked his injuries to the beating.

Fourth Man Arrested In Aruba In Natalee Holloway Case

A disc jockey on a tourist boat was detained in Aruba as the fourth person held in the Natalee Holloway disappearance. Police say the arrestee gave a voluntary statement and is linked to three earlier detainees Deepak and Satish Kalpoe and Joran van der Sloot. Holloway’s mother Beth Holloway Twitty expressed frustration with the pace of the probe and hopes for a resolution, while maintaining hope her daughter may still be alive.
