West Virginians Welcome Day Tour Through Harrisonburg
West Virginians from Pendleton Grant and Hardy counties visit Harrisonburg and Rockingham County for West Virginia Appreciation Day. Virginia State Police escort the caravan along Route 33 and 42 as hundreds greet along the route. An opening concert by Harrisonburg High School Band leads to exchanges of greetings and a free lunch for guests. Tours pass landmarks including the Daily News Record plant, Grace Street, Rockingham Farm Bureau, VFW Monument, Madison College, Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Metro Pants, and Valley Milk Producers. New Rural Mail Route 5 Serves West Rockingham Area
A new rural mail route No 5 will serve West Rockingham from Harrisonburg to Hinton with Park View remaining Park View Harrisonburg. The 29.67 mile route includes Route 33 boxes from Harrisonburg to Ed's Park and serves over 370 families and more than 1200 people. Delivery changes begin July 1 with box deliveries starting at Ed's Park.
