Virginia to open second diversion center in Rockingham County
The Virginia Department of Corrections converts Harrisonburg Correctional Unit 8 into Harrisonburg Men s Diversion Center near Linville. The center will house nonviolent offenders, operate as a stringent halfway house, and first inmates are slated to arrive August 1. Officials say judges can order diversion as a probation condition while area officials have expressed mostly positive responses.
