Rockingham County Supervisor Pablo Cuevas charged Harrisonburg Mayor Kai Degner with political meddling in a county dispute over a controversial hydraulic fracturing proposal. Degner runs in a three way race with Tony Wilt and Carolyn Frank to replace Matt Lohr, amid ongoing county actions.
Isabel Castillo, a 25 year old undocumented immigrant from Mexico, spoke at a DREAM rally on the Rockingham County Courthouse steps. DREAM Activist Virginia organized the event as protesters marched through downtown Harrisonburg to Court Square advocating the Development Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act granting conditional status to students who graduate and seek residency.

FBI and U S attorney say the Aruba inquiry into Natalee Holloway’s disappearance was not ready to charge Joran van der Sloot before he left Aruba. He later confesses to killing 21 year old Stephany Flores in Peru after meeting at a casino. Flores was found beaten in his hotel room. The cases intersect in Aruba and Peru with investigations ongoing.
