Washington AP reports Senator Edmund Muskie said he will not back Senator George McGovern for the Democratic presidential nomination yet. He urged McGovern to make peace with party skeptics before gaining formal support.
United Air Lines jet carrying Sen George McGovern was evacuated on landing after a bomb threat. Three people injured fleeing the plane but McGovern was unhurt. No bomb found. Threat called to New York police en route from New York to Oklahoma City for a fundraiser.
U S warplanes battered Hanoi and Haiphong with the most concentrated bombing in four years using 2000 and 3000 pound bombs followed by B52 saturation raids.
