An automobile speeding near 100 mph on US 11 north Saturday at 3 35 p m left the driver Melvin Breeden 48 Elkton Rt. 1 in serious condition at Rockingham Memorial Hospital and Garland Smith 25 Elkton Rt. 1 in satisfactory condition from head lacerations The car broke apart among trees after clipping a mailbox and veering off the roadway State Trooper R H Crist said he could not catch the vehicle The wreck was one of several calls Harrisonburg Rescue Squad answered that weekend.
