US Jet Explodes Over Rhineland in Air Accident
A U S F86F Sabre jet carrying ammunition exploded over a Rhineland village during a scramble to intercept an unidentified plane. The pilot died. one other person killed and four injured, all Germans. Two cars on a holiday highway were struck. a driver burned to death while two passengers were rescued. Swedes aboard a second car barely escaped injury.

Charles Pritchard, a 46 year old railroad foreman from Newport News, designs and tests a wingless airship in Emporia Virginia. The 21 foot craft weighs 800 to 900 pounds and uses six long baffles for lift.
