Credit conditions across the country tighten as Federal Reserve policy cuts loans to curb speculation and inflation. Bankers blame extravagant spending for inflation while noting abundant money. farmers face hardship due to farm loan uncertainties as the goal is to promote productive, non speculative credit.
A Virginia campaign update shows the Disciples of Christ in Chesapeake and Virginia reporting total gifts of 547 489 dollars through Sunday June 6. Multiple Virginia churches contributed varying amounts with several drives ongoing.
Rockingham County will be represented at the Church of the Brethren annual meeting in Soda Springs Missouri next week by about thirty members. Secretary Houston reported the treasury's fiscal year ending this month nearly balanced with small deficits in the first quarter and surpluses in the subsequent quarters. Total national debt declined from about $25.5 billion to under $25 billion by May 31, 1920, while floating debt dropped to under $2.85 billion.
Shenandoah County Ministerial Association met in Edinburg to discuss church corruption and Sunday liquor and ice cream sales. A three member committee was appointed to work with county officials on enforcement and to coordinate ministerial actions in towns. The group approved continuing the current organization for the year with S. L.aher as president and J. A. Murray as vice president.

The State Normal School at Harrisonburg concluded its eleventh season as plans for the six week summer session June 2 to July 31 moved forward. Demand for accommodations rose, signaling an enrollment near 600. Faculty members departed for summer duties or studies while others stayed to teach.
Irreconcilable Republican leaders from Idaho Connecticut Illinois and Massachusetts pressed for a league of nations plank with reservations at a Chicago convention. Senator Borah Brandegee Meormick Crane and Watson clashed over ratification while a resolutions committee sought a middle course to keep the party united.
