Serbs Free 108 Hostages Across Drina Bridge

In Mali Zvornik Yugoslavia Bosnian Serbs sent 108 U N peacekeepers to Serbia early today. The 108 came from Britain France Ukraine and Spain and crossed the Drina River into the border town shortly after 1 a m. More hostages of 148 remaining were expected to be released soon according to Jovica Stanisic the Serbian president's security chief.

First Bosnian Serb peacekeepers released from Drina border

The first busload of 58 peacekeepers near Zvor nic was reported. SRNA said more troops must join the convoy. Milosevic urged freedom for all UN hostages within days as Stanisic negotiated their release and planned transport to Novi Sad.

Virginia Court Rejects Fries Appeal in 1993 Murder Case

The Virginia Court of Appeals unanimously denied Camellia Fries’s appeal of her first degree murder conviction for the Sept. 4, 1993 stabbing of her mother Mari lyn Stearn Fries. Camellia, then 15, Shawn Roadcap, then 16, and Stephanie Fries, then 13, were all convicted and remain in custody with release by age 21 per state law. The court held that a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision cited by defense did not affect the outcome.
