Richmond June 6 Gov Byrd announces new industrial capital totaling 150 million dollars in the past year as Virginia's progress report notes ongoing factory openings. Kansas City July 6 Herbert Hoover gains decisive momentum as the Republican national committee closes the last of 1,089 convention seat contests. His supporters nearly sweep the slates winning 60 confirmed delegates while opponents concede a setback though Hoover remains far from assured. The committee ends with instructions on fractional delegations before adjournment.
