Canada and Japan participate. the pact covers collaboration, ground stations, and system modules through April 1987.
The two weakest Frustaci septuplets James Martin and Bonnie Marie were downgraded to critical and unstable as they fight a severe lung disease. The other three babies Patricia Ann Stephen Earl and Richard Charles remain critical but stable and improving daily.
Knoxv ille financier Jake Butcher was sentenced to twenty years for a twenty million dollar bank depositor theft. Bridgewater resident Anne Fifer has earned a Doctorate of Osteopathy from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines. She is to begin internal medicine residency at Carle Clinic Foundation in Champaign Urbana and holds a master's from the University of Kentucky and a doctorate from the University of Montana.
In Pittsburgh at an international conference, Dr. El Batawi of the WHO warned about an estimated 150 million children under 15 in dangerous labor from mining to construction. He cited Colombia and several developing nations, urged regulatory action, and noted that many governments fail to address the crisis despite acknowledging it privately.
Miami AP report: DEA agent Robert Schow pleaded innocent to a two count indictment charging soliciting bribes and illegally releasing agency secrets to individuals under investigation. He described debts totaling about 80 000 on a 100 000 Miami home and added 7 600 owed to three credit card firms. He faces potential sentences up to 15 years and 20 000 dollars for bribery and up to 10 years and 10 000 dollars for the disclosure charge. He was released on a 50 000 personal surety bond and suspended without pay.
