Weather outlook for Valley shows showers ending today with partly cloudy skies and highs near 70. Tonight will be variable cloudiness with low temperatures in the low 50s. Sunday remains partly cloudy with highs in the 70s.

In Richmond, lawmakers discussed a statewide information and referral system for human services. The panel explored costs and benefits, noting six regional S&R systems exist but no statewide program. Officials emphasized helping 750,000 users while reducing bureaucratic maze experiences and duplication.
Joy Kee, paralyzed from the neck down by a former boyfriend's shooting, earned her diploma with honors at J E B Stuart High. She returns to classes with support, plans writing a novel, and eyes Mason University for fall studies. Her attacker, Chuck Brewer, was sentenced to 50 years and may seek parole in nine years.
The Vietnam News Agency reported that Vietnam finished its promised partial withdrawal on May 31, returning one infantry division and six regiments from Cambodia after a monthlong operation that began May 2. Thailand and China question the withdrawal amid claims of 13,000 fresh troops entering Cambodia since January. Cambodian Foreign Minister Hun Sen denied accusations. Western diplomats estimate about 180,000 Vietnamese troops remained in Cambodia after the 1979 ouster of the Khmer Rouge.
Glenn Steven Jefferson, 27, from Norfolk Virginia, died in Presbyterian University Hospital after two liver transplants. He had pneumonia and had been hospitalized since February after liver failure. He underwent surgeries March 15 and April 25, remained in ICU until coma on Tuesday, and his body was flown to Norfolk for funeral services at St. Mark Congregational Christian Church.
