Richard M. Wood, 56, a businessman accused of bilking celebrities and investors of millions, was found dead on a golf course near the fifth tee in Englewood Florida. Investigators tentatively ruled the death a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Wood had faced lawsuits totaling about 17.5 million dollars across Florida, North Carolina and Michigan from sportscasters Merlin Olsen and Dick Enberg and others alleging siphoned profits from a Michigan real estate venture. His net worth was once estimated at 46 million, but a Florida bank foreclosed on his Tampa home after loan defaults of 1.6 million.
