The extended forecast for Virginia calls for hot humid weather Wednesday with cooler temperatures and a chance of thunderstorms Thursday and Friday. Highs near the upper 80s Wednesday and upper 70s to mid 80s Thursday and Friday, nighttime lows in the 60s. Temperatures lower in the mountains.

Amin Gemayel declares a week of mourning as 15,000 mourners surround the funeral, while Syria, Lebanon Forces, and military leaders react with heightened alert amid ongoing civil conflict. Karami, a longtime Sunni leader, had faced a bitter feud with Gemayel and had resisted resigning.
Former CIA operative Fernandez testified about coded flight details to contra leaders, Costa Rica airstrip plans, and the risk of discovery. He admitted misstatements to the Tower Commission and the CIA inspector general, saying he followed Washington directives to continue the resupply despite concerns. He described Pastora's volatile role and a near-miss strike on Hart and Cohen, and noted a July cable ordering him to stand down amid a key House vote on $100 million contra aid.
A campfire out of control sparked a wind driven blaze in Pebble Beach destroying 31 homes and damaging six others across about 140 acres. Roanoke station WSLS had a foggy broadcast when smoke from a compressor fire filled the studios two minutes before the 6 p.m. news. Anchorwoman Laurie Pence remained on air describing the day’s events. She noted the TelePrompter was hard to read and suggested adding a fog light.
