A weather forecast predicts showers for parts of Minnesota Wisconsin Michigan Iowa Illinois Indiana Missouri the Dakotas and Florida. Most of the nation is expected to have fair conditions with dry spells elsewhere.
The Valley forecast calls for sunny today with highs in the mid to upper 70s and fair tonight with lows in the mid to upper 50s. Friday will be partly sunny with highs around 80.
The Chase Econometrics forecast says Virginia’s economy will improve through 1985 with strong growth in manufacturing and construction. Non agricultural employment should rise 1.9 percent in 1983, 3.6 percent in 1984, and 3.1 percent in 1985, while housing starts and the lumber and furniture sectors gain from a housing rebound. Mining is expected weak in the short term.
A Roanoke circuit judge voided charges against 10 men arrested in a March 18 suspected casino raid after ruling vice officers illegally hid in the building to observe operations. The judge said no state law permits lengthy pre-warrant entry and rejected the police claim the action protected evidence. The case may go to a grand jury despite the ruling.
The Waterside marketplace in Norfolk opened with a parade and christening as tugboat horns sounded. Gov Robb praised the project while more than 4,000 spectators watched bands clowns and dancers. The 122-restaurant complex plans to attract 6 to 8 million visitors in 1984 and generate substantial local profits.

Elon College corrected a prior release about Kari Sue Good of Harrisonburg clarifying her father is Joseph W. Good and her mother Brenda K. Good. The correction states the father's name was omitted in the original information.
