Bridgewater College Honors 29 Graduates Free of Debt

Dr Henry Louis Smith spoke at Bridgewater College finals where 29 graduates received diplomas in College Street Church of the Brethren. The college was declared free of debt with less than 500 dollars remaining, pledged by Roger, former Mount Morris president, who ends a fundraising drive. Dr Flory led the school forward. Smith urged universal access to education and the value of brain power over muscle in the modern era.

State Normal School to stage senior play and weeklong exercises

The seventh annual commencement week begins with the Senior Class play Shakespeare The Winter's Tale in the Open-Air Auditorium at 8 30. Events include tennis Saturday, a Musical Department recital, Baccalaureate sermon Sunday, vesper service, school work exhibition, cornerstone laying, class day, and final commencement address by Bishop D J O Connell. Miss Blanche Marie Hoover daughter of Melvin B. Hoover killed herself near Los Angeles after months chasing a moving picture career. A stenographer from Atlanta she left a note to her father and relatives were notified. The family, well known in Rockingham, planned funeral in Atlanta.
