Lutins highlighted Snider's model prison record and claimed parole consideration is warranted after decades of punishment. Dalton plans to review the case and decide by January 16.
Gov. John Dalton vetoed an emergency bill to stop Northern Virginia auto emissions inspections for over a year. He cited risk to federal funds and the already begun program and equipment costs. The measure had moved to Jan 1 1983, aligning with D C and Maryland delays, while Virginia kept a 1982 start.
Gordonsville Virginia saw a six hour blaze devastate the 27 room Inverness mansion on Cameron's Mountain. Fire officials report the house was unoccupied and the attic access burned upon arrival. About 50 firefighters from Gordonsville Orange County and Barboursville battled the flames in freezing weather. damage estimate not yet determined. The 1918 built estate was listed for sale at 700000 dollars. owner Hans Boekdrukker could not be reached for comment.
The American Council of Life Insurance notes New York was the first state to pass a law in 1840 shielding life insurance proceeds paid to a widow from creditors. Today all states exempt such proceeds from creditor claims.
