Reverend Moses Slabaugh, EMC graduate and former Virginia Mennonite Conference minister, returned to Eastern Mennonite College a walnut grandfather clock carved from a downed Park Woods tree. Guidance counselor from Harrisonburg recovers after farm accident
Lester G. Brantley, a Harrisonburg High School guidance counselor active since 1968, is in rehabilitation at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville North Carolina after a farm accident on December 13. He fell into a pig pen when a rotten board gave way injuring his head and spinal cord. Brantley says recovery may take months and he hopes to be at the family farm for Christmas.

Harrisonburg Electric Commission refunds 217000 to customers
The Harrisonburg Electric Commission has refunded nearly 217000 to its customers as part of a four month plan to return 11 million. The refunds come from 171 million Vepco returning to HEC to settle a three year rate hike dispute. Comptroller Gary Green said the average user received an eight dollar credit in the first month with amounts based on usage and class. About two thirds of customers were refunded last month. General Manager Kenneth Frantz noted the Virginia Municipal Electric Association seeks permits for hydroelectric plants at seven locations for future power. An executive session on legal matters ended with no action.

Snow Plow Blade and Saw Stolen in City Thefts
A yellow 90 inch Myer snow plow blade weighing 700 to 800 pounds and valued at $600 was stolen from the side parking lot of Mick-or-Mack on South Main Street between Dec 16 and 21. Man Pleads Guilty In Multiple Child Molestation Charges
