Grottoes police have turned a 1972 missing person case into a homicide inquiry after DNA testing linked skeletal remains to Prentice Daniel Via who vanished December 7 1972 at age 60. Police Chief Charles Lawhorne said the reopenED investigation and remains produced evidence of homicide. The case was revived in July after a resident prompted police to review records.
