Master Sergeant Jefferson Donald Davis 39 of Tennessee Sergeant First Class Daniel Pe aithory 32 of Massachusetts and Staff Sergeant Brian Cody Prosser 28 of California died in a hazardous mission. Five Afghan fighters were killed and several wounded as Defense Secretary Rumsfeld ordered an investigation. The three soldiers were with Army 3rd Battalion 5th Special Forces Group based at Fort Campbell. Wounded were evacuated from Kandahar region with varying injuries.
