Virginia faces 1.5 billion shortfall and agency cuts
Governor Mark Warner projected at least 1.5 billion in general fund revenue losses for the 2003-04 two year budget, on top of prior 3.8 billion in cuts. He warned agencies may shutter or lose funding streams as he ordered three budget-cut plans totaling 7, 11, and 15 percent by September.

Two JMU friends die in plane crash after visit to Deerfield

Daniel Henry Rohrer, 68, of Dayton, died Monday morning after swerving into a 1997 Chevrolet Crew Cab pickup on Va. 42 near John Wayland Elementary School. Driver Ricky Moats, 30, of Dayton, remained at the scene. police say the truck did nothing wrong and are seeking witnesses.

Governor Mark Warner appointed Harrisonburg councilman Larry Rogers to a two year post on the Virginia Business Education Partnership Council.
