Plane Crash Kills Two In Augusta County
A small Piper PA 28-180 failed to clear an 80 foot pine and crashed at Tannehill Christmas Tree Farm in rural Augusta County. Both occupants Michael Lease and John Zachary were killed on impact. Witnesses reported the nose dive and fire. Investigators from Virginia State Police and FAA will inspect the crash site. NTSB to be contacted. Lease resided in Harrisonburg. Zachary was a Richmond resident and James Madison University graduate. The plane was reportedly owned by Zachary or his family and registered to Zachary Air Partnership in Midlothian.
