Coast Guard nets 37 tons marijuana in nine days
Coast Guard crews seized about 37 tons of marijuana with an estimated value of 37 million dollars from boats off the southeast coast over the last nine days after two routine boardings and a deliberate chase. The Vigilant recovered 20 tons from the Viviana after an eight day search and a fire aboard. The Leon, previously seized, carried five arrestees when found 250 miles southeast of Cape Fear.

Two Convicted Of CB Offenses In Charlotte NC
In Charlotte two men were convicted in U S District Court for illegal CB radio activities. Robert Baker of Norfolk Virginia was fined 1500 and given a one year sentence with probation after selling illegal CB linear amplifiers and equipment was forfeited. Ford M Stewart of Mooresville received a one year term and 1000 fine after pleading guilty to operating an unlicensed CB station with equipment exceeding the four watt limit and was placed on probation.
