Train Kills Truck Driver At Middletown Grade Crossing
A westbound express train struck a five ton freight truck at the Ordnance Depot crossing in Middletown at 3.30 this morning. R. E. Welbourn, 23, of Harrisburg, was killed. watchman Frank Still, believed asleep, was seriously injured. The truck carried cinders for depot filling. Train crew from Harrisburg included engineers Holtry and Welch and conductor Quinland. The collision hurled the truck rear lamp a thousand feet, evidencing the high speed.
