Changes in pastorates loom at centennial conference
The Philadelphia A M E Conference district will decide tomorrow on pastorate changes as the centennial session nears its end. Many long-tenured placements may shift though city removals are not expected. The Carlisle school board criticism centers on unventilated, unsanitary conditions at a school set aside for colored pupils with unequal educational opportunities. The conference condemns borough and county actions, appeals for state aid, and cites court cases pending. Financial reports show nearly eight thousand nine hundred seventy six dollars raised for the dollar fund, plus smaller gifts to missions education and memorial funds. The missionary society reports over two thousand five hundred raised. Special services and ordination by Bishop Evans Tyree occur tomorrow at Bethel A M E Church.
