Compensation to the Center in State Workmen’s Bill Debate
Strenuous objection to amendments in the Workmen’s Compensation bill is voiced by employers across the state as conferences are held this week. The bill, backed by the administration, faces changes to the self insurers tax and the Compensation Bureau provisions. Amendments place the rehabilitation bureau under the Department of Labor and Industry, with the chief named by the Commissioner and approved by the Governor. The plan abandons a separate bureau and keeps rehabilitation within the department, and defines residency-related handicap terms to limit state payouts. An appropriation of 100,000 dollars remains, with the Commissioner to make appointments subject to Governor approval. WHARTON COMMENCEMENT Wharton School commencement exercises will be held tomorrow at 8 pm in the Technical High School auditorium with Provost Smith present. Prof. Theodore J. Grayson will speak on corporation law. Delone’s Orchestra will provide music. Graduates include M. Alerstock, J. L. Baker, L. D. Gohen, T. J. Miller, C. H. Zellers.
