Crossings to be Abolished Rapidly Across Pennsylvania

Public Service Commission officials say more grade crossings will be abolished this year than ever before as war backlogs fade. Nearly a dozen main highway crossings were ordered removed last month with cost shared by railroads the state counties and townships. More orders expected before summer end while the Legislature seeks funds for the state share. Federal plans allow costs to be charged to capital accounts to avoid delays.
