Harrisburg companies of the Eighth regiment National Guard of Pennsylvania hosted hundreds of visitors at Mt Gretna camp. Company D and Company I each hosted more than 150 guests including Mrs. James T. Long Jr and Miss Nora Warren. The Harrisburg contingent reported a lively reception with remarks on guardsmen personalities and camp life. The State Bureau of Medical Education and Licensure announced 205 of 229 candidates passed last month’s state licensing exam, with fewer failures than usual. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks reports flourishing finances and rising membership at its annual Grand Lodge session. In the year ending April 1, 1915, 43,085 new members joined, totaling 442,658. 16,228 were dropped, 232 expelled, 7,843 demitted, and 4,701 deaths left a net increase of 14,081.
