Dauphin County to gain major road and bridge improvements via coal land reassessment revenue. Plan includes joint courthouse and city hall with Harrisburg, hospital, and modernized roads without raising current tax rates.
Several additional flights were made over Harrisburg last evening and this morning to test air lanes at the Middletown aviation depot. Major B. Decker piloted the planes on both trips and was accompanied by a passenger on each journey.
For Harrisburg and vicinity the forecast calls for rain tonight and Wednesday, then much colder Thursday with fair conditions. Low tonight around 40 degrees and the Susquehanna River expected to rise to about 4.5 feet by Wednesday morning.
The Motor Dealers Association of Harrisburg will run two auto motor shows in March at the Overland warehouse, Twenty sixth and Derry streets. Thirty three exhibitors have already applied for space to display twenty one passenger cars and twenty one trucks and tractors. An army tank and airplane will be shown during the ten day event with accessory dealers occupying the north side of the building.
Washington Feb 25 The Senate commerce committee approved a favorable report on a bill by Senator Fletcher Florida authorizing government acquisition and operation of the Cane Cod canal for up to ten million dollars. The action came as the measure was introduced yesterday.
Nearly 500000 American Expeditionary Force members will be homeward by July 1 under general staff plans. March sailings include the 27th 8th and 91st divisions. April sees the 26th 77th 82nd 25th and 42nd. May adds 32nd 28th 33rd 80th 88th. June covers 89th 90th 28th and 79th.
Voters from both parties went to the polls today in a special election to fill the Pennsylvania Senate seat left by Edward F. Beidleman, who became lieutenant governor. Early crowds showed Republicans favored Frank A. Smith as the weather turned chilly with overcast skies and a brisk wind.
