London February 15 report says a flotilla of German destroyers sunk eight British anti submarine vessels in the Straits of Gower. Seven were drifters and one a trawler. The raiders then withdrew northward before Allied forces could engage. Vernon Castle death note appears as unrelated garbled text.
Washington reports that after rejecting Bolshevik peace terms Germany plans a renewed invasion of Northern Russia. Fort Worth Texas February 15 Captain Vernon Castle of the English Royal Flying Corps was killed this morning while flying fifteen miles west of Fort Worth. He had made over 150 flights over German lines and was famed for daring aerial feats.
Vernon Castle, famed dancer and modern dance teacher with Irene Castle, gained fame in New York. He earned an aviator license in 1916, joined the British Royal Flying Corps, and was reported dead in France before Irene later announced he won the Cross of War for valor.
